ESOS increases British Standard
BS EN ISO 50001 applications, which contain a requirement to have
TM44 Air Conditioning Inspection Reports on all relevant buildings.

Large companies in the UK are now
required to lodge an ESOS Report by 5th December 2015,
although the Environment Agency is taking a soft approach
and will not be too hard on this until March 2016. All the
large Companies caught by ESOS will be well aware of their
responsibilities as they will have received numerous letters
from the Environment Agency.
Many Large Companies are
already committed to BS EN ISO 50001. The system is modelled
after the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the ISO
14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
Reports are receiving calls every week from Companies who
have made the choice to go down the ISO 50001 route to ESOS
compliance. The reason for the contact is that part of the
50001 compliance calls for all buildings to also have EPBD
TM44 Air Conditioning Inspection Reports completed and
lodged in the Government Landmark database. It is a legal
requirement to have a valid TM44 and without all the stock
of buildings which contain air conditioning (totalling more
than 12kw) having a TM44 in place, the ISO 50001 certificate
will not be issued.
The advice of ACI Reports is to
get the TM44 inspections undertaken in plenty of time on a
planned basis. Forward planning will allow costs to be
sensible and avoid an emergency rush. ESOS may change and
get wrapped up with CRC in 2016, but that will not remove
the requirement for Large Companies to operate legally,
which means that they need to have sorted out their TM44 Air
Conditioning Inspection, Read more>
